The advocates of a referendum question that would overturn Chapter 135 collected over 100,000 signatures, enough to suspend enforcement of the law until it could be decided by voters in 2026. In response, Maura Healey said “I know better” and used a procedural tactic to put the law into effect immediately. I will never act that way as your Governor. I will be supporting the effort to repeal Chapter 135.
I will support measures that address illegal gun ownership to ensure known, identifiable bad actors don’t have access to a firearm. Unlike Maura Healey, I will not support proposals that are politically motivated attempts that infringe on the constitutional rights of gun owners solely for the sake of scoring cheap political points.
