Mike Kennealy's Vision for Massachusetts

Immigration

A government we can believe in must also know how to manage a crisis.

The migrant crisis, which has spiraled into a humanitarian disaster in our neighborhoods, is one of the clearest signs that Governor Healey is unfit to lead. Under Healey’s watch, there have been thousands of reported incidents—assaults, drug use, drug dealing, and rape. Her response? “Things will happen.” That is an utterly unacceptable answer to this state funded humanitarian disaster. We need real leadership, and we need it now.

As Governor, I will sign legislation establishing residency requirements for our right-to-shelter system, restoring its original intent: to serve Massachusetts families who have fallen on hard times—not as a Band-Aid for a national immigration failure. I will ensure we prioritize veterans and make certain that illegal immigrant rapists and violent criminals are not housed in our shelters near vulnerable children.

On Day One, I will declare that Massachusetts is not a sanctuary state. I will work with the Legislature to reverse every one of Maura Healey’s sanctuary policies that protect criminal illegal immigrants. We will cooperate with federal authorities to remove them from our shelters, our streets, and out of our state.

Unlike Governor Healey, I won’t pick political fights with Washington to score political points. I will collaborate with the federal government to strengthen our public safety, protect our communities, and ensure Massachusetts is no longer a sanctuary for lawlessness. When I’m Governor, that change begins immediately.

"This campaign is about restoring prosperity, opportunity, and common sense to Massachusetts. It’s time to chart a better course—one that reflects the values, needs, and voices of the people. Let’s build a state we can afford and a future we can believe in, with a government that works for all of us."
