Democrats say, “We know best.” Republicans say, “We the People,” and that’s how I will govern.
On Day One, I will bring a new standard of transparency, collaboration, and accountability. That starts with listening to our communities—not dictating to them. It means honoring the will of the voters. I will immediately call on Attorney General Andrea Campbell and the Democrat-controlled legislature to accept the audit of the legislature—a measure supported by 72% of Massachusetts citizens. There is perhaps no greater arrogance than to ignore the will of the voters.
Last year, Governor Healey took two and a half months off. And Maura Healey abandoned her pledge to comply with public records laws – that will change when I am Governor.
When questioned about her whereabouts, she said it was ‘none of your business.’ But in our democracy, elected officials work for the people—and the people deserve answers. As your Governor, you will know where I am, what I’m doing, and how to contact me. That’s what transparency means.
When I’m Governor, my office is the people’s office. My office will be subject to the same public records laws that I was subject to as a Cabinet Secretary.
