Lexington, MA—Today, Mike Kennealy, the only Republican gubernatorial candidate in the race, released a blistering new campaign ad titled “Failure,” exposing Governor Maura Healey’s catastrophic handling of the migrant crisis—turning it into a state-funded humanitarian disaster at a cost of over $3 billion in taxpayer dollars, all while keeping the public in the dark.

The video highlights just a few of the more than 1,000 disturbing incidents that have occurred inside state-run migrant shelters under Governor Healey’s watch.

Kennealy condemned the conditions in the shelters and the Governor’s role in allowing them to deteriorate, stating:

“What’s happening in the migrant shelters is morally reprehensible. These failures are symptomatic of the way Maura Healey has governed—reactive, disengaged, opaque, and without accountability. The ‘things that are happening’ on her watch are travesties, national embarrassments, and moral failures. They’re emblematic of her lack of leadership. And for the victims of the crimes in these shelters, they will never get back the innocence they’ve lost.”

As Governor, Kennealy pledges to protect our most vulnerable and to sign legislation to reinstate the original intent of the state’s right to shelter law by establishing a six-month residency requirement—ensuring that shelter is reserved for Massachusetts families who have truly fallen on hard times.
