KENNEALY SLAMS HEALEY’S OUT OF CONTROL SPENDING ON MIGRANT CRISIS

Lexington, MA — Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Kennealy is sounding the alarm over Governor Maura Healey’s continued mismanagement of the ongoing migrant crisis, as new reports show the state is spending nearly $3,870 per week per family in the emergency shelter system—amounting to more than $201,000 annually per household at taxpayer expense.

“After years of grappling with the migrant crisis, the government is still spending taxpayer dollars like the crisis just began,” said Kennealy. “Now, we’re learning the state is on track to spend another $1 billion in this fiscal year alone. Families in Massachusetts are struggling to make ends meet – it’s simply unfair to ask them to fund this level of government failure.”

Kennealy also criticized the Healey administration for failing to address the state’s spiraling public safety and judicial system crisis, where ongoing funding issues and a bar advocate work stoppage have led to defendants being released without counsel and charges being dismissed.

“While the state continues its billion-dollar spending spree on the shelter system, it can’t find the will—or the leadership—to properly fund our court system,” said Kennealy. “We now have a situation where alleged criminals are walking free, and the Governor offers no path forward. We need a leader who will act to solve problems – not cheer from the sidelines.”

Mike Kennealy has pledged to reform the Right-to-Shelter law, implement real residency requirements, and restore fiscal discipline to ensure that Massachusetts taxpayers come first.
