Mike Kennealy Blasts Healey’s Reckless Energy Policies After 17% Utility Rate Hike Proposal

Lexington, MA – Massachusetts utility companies are proposing a 17% rate increase and Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Kennealy says Massachusetts families shouldn’t be forced to pay the price for Governor Maura Healey’s failed energy agenda.

“Massachusetts families are already struggling under the weight of the highest costs in the nation. A 17% increase in utility rates is absolutely unacceptable,” Kennealy said. “Let’s not forget, Governor Healey herself boasts about blocking two natural gas pipelines from entering Massachusetts. Her reckless climate agenda has led directly to these higher costs, and now working families are being forced to foot the bill.”

Kennealy made clear that the problem stems from Healey’s lack of a serious, results-driven energy policy. “Governor Healey doesn’t have an energy plan. Her only priority is advancing a partisan climate agenda, no matter the cost to working families. She has consistently chosen politics over pragmatism, and this rate hike is the painful result,” he continued.

As Governor, Kennealy pledged to pursue a results-oriented, consumer-first energy agenda:

  • Lower costs by expanding natural gas access.
  • Invest in cutting-edge nuclear technology to secure a reliable energy future.
  • Increase supply to meet demand and stabilize prices.
  • Remove green-gimmick fees from your energy bills

“When I’m Governor, my number one priority will be bringing down energy costs for Massachusetts families. We will develop an energy policy rooted in pragmatism, fiscal responsibility, and common sense – one that ensures families aren’t punished for political grandstanding.”
