Lexington, MA – Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Kennealy is calling on Massachusetts to join the 36 other states that enforce voter ID laws. With something as vital and delicate as our election process, voter ID is a commonsense safeguard to protect the integrity of our democratic republic.
“I’m a strong supporter of voter ID just as I believe the vast majority of Massachusetts citizens are. In today’s world, you need an ID to board a plane, buy certain medications, or even enter many buildings. It stands to reason that voting, the very foundation of our democratic republic, should be held to the same standard,” Kennealy stated.
“I support the bills filed by Senator Durant and Representative Berthiaume that require voters to provide photo ID to election officials prior to voting. Implementing voter ID is a commonsense step that would strengthen the integrity of our elections and help restore public confidence across the political spectrum. It’s a practical measure that brings more transparency, not division.”
