Lexington, MA – The Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance Foundation released new polling data confirming that Governor Maura Healey is vulnerable, with fewer than half of voters prepared to support her for re-election. The survey also shows Mike Kennealy as the only Republican candidate positioned to defeat her.
Mike Kennealy stated:
“This poll proves what we already know – Maura Healey is beatable. I am the only Republican candidate with the experience, energy, policies, and resources to win in 2026.”
Brian Wynne, senior advisor and pollster for the Kennealy campaign, added:
“Charlie Baker trailed Martha Coakley by 13 points in September of 2013, when 54% of voters supported the then-Attorney General. Mike Kennealy is in a far stronger position today at the equivalent stage of the cycle – down only 11 points, with Healey stuck at just 45%. Even more importantly, Mike is winning independents, who make up 65% of the electorate, by a margin of 10 points, with clear room to grow.”
Wynne continued:
“This poll also underscores the fact that Brian Shortsleeve is unelectable. He trails Healey by 15 points – a nearly unprecedented gap when compared to the 2014 cycle, in which only 4 out of 60 polls ever showed Charlie Baker behind by that much. Our internal polling makes it even clearer: the more voters learn about Shortsleeve’s record at the MBTA and his political positions, the less likely they are to support him.”
