“Governor Maura Healey and the Democratic supermajority must reject Mayor Wu’s tax hike and demand that she finally get her fiscal house in order. Allowing this increase would amount to a bailout for her own mismanagement and overspending.

Just look at her personal staff: Bostonians are on the hook for $5.1 million a year so Mayor Wu can employ an assistant speechwriter, a digital associate, three special assistants, three staff assistants, and a photographer who makes over $250,000 annually. If that’s how she runs her own office, imagine what the rest of City Hall looks like. There is clearly room to cut before raising taxes on anyone.

This is a political bailout—nothing more. Michelle Wu created this mess, refuses to make cuts, and is now asking taxpayers to pay for her bloated bureaucracy.”
